એ

એ is a long "e" vowel sound in Gujarati. It has a smooth, extended "ay" sound, different from the shorter "ઇ" or "ઈ". Like other vowels, it can stand alone or be attached to consonants using a diacritical form (matra) – written as ે, as in દે (de – give).
